Ghanaian Languages Projects in the Works
Project AltKey
May 10, 2006. On March 15th, 2005, we embarked on the journey to create a new and user-friendlier keyboard engine. Dubbed "AltKey", the new engine mimics the Tavultesoft Keyman "engine" used for winGlass v1.0, for compatibility reasons, while allowing users to customise their keyboards after installation. Well, we currently have AltKey in alpha mode.
The official AltKey site will be launched in November, 2006 when we would hopefully have gone past beta testing. A subset of AltKey is being used to test the new version of winGlass and we will appreciate it if you could download the new version when we post it online, try it out, and give us feedback to help improve it.
Once AltKey leaves beta state, winGlass will be migrated to the AltKey platform and the Tavultesoft Keyman architecture version will become deprecated. To show appreciation for all our users, and to give them time to switch over to the new and improved version of our keyboard tools, we will continue to provide support for the current Keyman-based winGlass for one whole year after we switch over to the AltKey-based keyboards.
The Ewe Dictionary Project
May 10, 2006. Each of the few times that I combed the web looking for resources for Ghanaian languages, I always ended up with scant resources for Ghanaian languages. So starting this August, we will be launching the Ewe Dictionary Project. Please stop by when we launch this service and make entries into the dictionary if you are Ewe-literate. We will be looking for volunteers who will review the entries before we publish them.
